I’ve been a writer for as long as I can remember, excelling at the craft at various times in my life, and always amazed at the ease with which words flowed out of me and onto the page. So, when I decided that I wanted to start a blog, I expected the wellsping of words to just start gushing. I have tons of notes, musings, and analysis that I have created over the past bunch of years, but what came forth and offered itself to be written was NOTHING.
Lao Tsu, the ancient Taoist philosopher, is quoted as saying that “the journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.” Taking his wisdom to heart, I’m taking MY very first baby step with this post. You have to start somewhere, right? Rock on, Lao Tsu.
I’m also “officially” announcing the launch of my new business, “Herbal Arts Apothecary,” a source for creatively crafted herbal products, kick-butt, unique herbal education, and lots of other cool stuff. Herbal Arts is, in many ways, the physical manifestation of my holistic journey- which began over 30 years ago. I am taking a leap in assuming that I have gleaned some knowledge worthy of sharing, and I thank those friends who gave me wonderful encouragement in starting this business. My sincere hope is that this blog, and other offerings, will serve as a resource for those seeking a similar path. Thanks for joining me here.
I should probably put in a detailed plug for my educational programs, which will be starting in the Spring of 2018- especially the “Village Herbalist Training program.” This training is a unique opportunity to take herbal knowledge from our heads (where it often lives) and transform it into action through our hearts and hands. I believe that every family and every community deserves a person skilled in the use of botanicals for basic health issues, and this program speaks directly to that mission.
